About the Founder

The Catholic Journey was founded by Khader (George) Maskubi, a native of Jerusalem whose life has been deeply shaped by the land of the Bible and the roots of the Catholic faith.

George grew up in Jerusalem speaking Aramaic—the language spoken by Jesus—along with Arabic and Hebrew. From a young age, Scripture was not something distant; it was lived daily in the very places where salvation history unfolded.

His life was profoundly influenced by his father’s 24 years of service as guardian of the Garden of Gethsemane, the sacred place where Our Lord prayed before His Passion. Living just minutes from the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, George was immersed in the very heart of Christianity from an early age.

In 2000, he became a licensed guide of biblical sites in Israel and began leading pilgrimages throughout the Holy Land. After guiding hundreds of groups, he recognized the powerful impact that encountering these sacred places has on one’s faith.

Motivated by this vision, George founded Biblical Journeys and later expanded his mission through The Catholic Journey—dedicated specifically to serving Catholic clergy and pilgrims seeking a deeper, more authentic experience.

Having received his formal education in the United States and as a citizen of both Israel and the U.S., George brings a unique cultural, spiritual, and practical perspective that allows him to bridge worlds and provide unparalleled insight and leadership.

For over a decade, he has partnered with priests and group leaders, ensuring that every pilgrimage is carefully planned and spiritually focused—allowing clergy to lead, celebrate Mass, and minister to their pilgrims without distraction.
